匈牙利数学家看南京：你永远不会觉得这里无聊

Hungarian mathematician: Never get bored in Nanjing

走在南京街头，你或许会邂逅一位揣着相机的高个子老外。他也许正在拍老城南做手工的老艺人、“老门东”里开咖啡馆的年轻人、河西CBD中央公园里打太极拳的老人、举着红气球快乐奔跑的年轻孩子，也可能他正在拍你。

Istvan Mezo,36years old, is from Hungary and now lives in Nanjing.

Whenever he wants a relief from work, Istvan would take a long walk, seeing around and taking some photos.

这个喜欢拍“街头瞬间”的“老外”叫Istvan Mezo，四年前从匈牙利来到古都南京。刚来南京时，这里的一切都让他感到新奇，他想要记录。最初他只是随便拍拍美食、美景，但他觉得这类照片并不是他的风格，他一直寻觅着。直到有一天，他的镜头对准了在城市里惬意生活的普通人，那一刻他终于找到了适合自己的摄影题材，从此他踏上了纪实摄影的道路。他认为：“每种人生都应该被尊敬，也值得被记录。”

“Every life and work need to be respected and is worth recording.” Since he himself grew up in a relatively poor place, he gets more sensitive to the life scenes of ordinary people. Two years ago, he got himself a luxurious gift, a professional camera.

他是一个摄影工作者吗？其实他的正式身份是南京信息工程大学数学教授。除了教学，还参与科研项目，当科研没有灵感时，他就带着相机，走走拍拍。对他来说，数学研究是一种内在活动，需要静下心来去思考；而摄影是一种外在活动，可以与他人有互动交流，两者互为补充。

However, he is not a professional photographer, but a mathematician. Three years ago, Istvan came to Nanjing and became a professor at a university in Nanjing. “Mathematics is more of an introverted thing, sitting in a chair and keeping calm; while photography is an extroverted thing, making me relaxed,” he said.

或许是数学家的天性，Istvan对有挑战性、丰富的东西有种难以解释的偏爱，这也是他来中国的一个原因。汉语的复杂已是公认的，中国文化的博大精深更是不用赘述，这种交错的挑战正对他的胃口。

Istvan said he had a thing for challenges and complex things. Chinese language is complex, and so is its culture. Coming to China is certainly a complex challenge that suits him.

事实上，Istvan与中国的缘分可以追溯到2011年，那时他在香港参加学术会议，第一眼就被繁体字吸引了，回匈牙利后他就开始自学汉语词法。当他2014年来到南京的时候，已经具备一定的汉语水平。经过这几年的锤炼，他已经是能说会写。

Actually, his knot to China can date back to the year of2011, when he went to Hong Kong for a conference. The complex Chinese characters instantly drew his attention. When he came back to his country, he bought a book about Chinese writing system, and started to learn by himself. By the time he came to China, he already had some Chinese knowledge.

现在，Istvan和他的家人已经完全融入南京这座热情的城市。“在南京，你永远不会觉得无聊，这个古老的城市越来越年轻，永远给你惊喜!“

Having lived in Nanjing for almost four years, the Mezo family has found their own way to enjoy the life here. The family goes out every weekend. “You can never get bored in Nanjing!"

Istvan的江苏故事仍在继续，而他和家人2018年的生活也必将更加精彩。

The story of the Mezo family is still to be written, and their life will definitely become more fantastic.
